2022년 말부터 새로운 그래픽카드가 출시되었다. 엔비디아의 RTX4090 모델과 , AMD사의 RX7900XTX모델이다. 모둔 24GB 메모리를 지원한다. 각 제조사의 Flagship 모델 답게 우수한 성능을 보이고 있다.

그래픽카드 시장을 양분하는 상황에 Intel의 ARC 제품이 추가되었다. NVIDIA사와 AMD 의 제품에 필적하지는 못하지만, 가격대비 충분한 성능을 보이고 있다. 각종 유튜브의 벤치마크를 통해 입증되고 있다. 여기서 주목할 부분이 있는 데, NVIDIA, AMD, Intel 모두 자사의 드라이버 업데이트를 통해 성능이 향상되고 있다는 것이다.

위 두 Flagship을 모델은 생산성 목적으로 판매되는 제품이고, 개인 게임용이라면, 구매하기에 부담스러울 수 있는 금액으로 판매되고 있다. 그래서, 이보다는 성능이 다소 부족하고, 적당한 가격에 구매할 수 있는 제품도 있다.

루미온 사용자 입장에서는 Video ram이 높은 것을 선호하다. 소규모의 프로젝트라면, 큰 차이가 없겠지만, 루미온 사용자들 상당수가 대규모 프로젝트를 진행하기도 한다. 루미온 자체가 금액이 고가이다보니, 요구하는 하드웨어적 성능도 높은 것이다.

Lumion users prefer high video ram. If it’s a small project, there won’t be a big difference, but many Lumion users are also working on large-scale projects. Since Lumion itself is expensive, the hardware performance required is also high.

루미온은 다른 렌더링 소프트웨어와 체급자체가 다르다. 지금까지는 건축, 조경분야에 한정되어 사용되었지만, 2023년 3월경에 출시될 루미온2023(Lumion 2023)부터는 실내표현기능이 강화되어, 전 분야에 활용될 것으로 예상된다.

루미온을 사용하기 위한 하드웨어 시스템은 꼼꼼히 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 특히, 그래픽카드를 교체한다고 모든 것이 해결되는 것이 아니다. 보통 그래픽카드는 성능을 높이기 위해 전력을 많이 소비한다. 그래서 이것을 뒷받침해 줄 Power가 제공되어야 한다. 다행히, 많은 Power supply 제조사에서 1000W가 넘는 제품을 출시하고 있다. 보통 ‘뻥연비’라고 하여, 1000W가 넘는다고 표기하더라도 실제로 그 출력을 모두 발휘하지 못하는 제품도 있는데, 이런 일종의 사기판매를 방지하기 위해 Power의 효율등급제가 운영되고 있다.

당사에서도 2022년 12월에 RTX4090제품을 구매하였고, 이번에는 RX7900XTX제품을 주문하였다. 물론, 기존 시스템의 Power도 업그레이드 하였다.
